Here is my first review on Flipkart ..........!
After comparing specs for around a dozen budget android phones...... Had bought a SPICE "Smart Flo Pace 2 Mi-502" Model for 7K about a month ago .......!
Absolutely no problems with the phone so far (touchwood) ...........!
It is a decent bargain for those who want a Dual-Sim smartphone for basic needs like browsing, watching videos, listening to music, reading ebooks, playing games like Angry Birds, Subway Surfers, Temple Run, etc.
-- 5-Inch Screen Size is a real plus ..... Really good for browsing, watching videos, reading books, playing games, etc. .........!
-- The build of the phone is sturdy, even though in a plastic casing ........ The thickness of the handset is only 9.6 mm .........!
-- The 1 GHz Dual-Core processor ensures that there are no lags in running applications ...... Temple Run (the benchmark game for testing Android phones) runs quite smoothly ......!
-- The screen resolution of 480x800 is adequate for playing videos......Although one cant play HD videos..... Streaming videos from Youtube looks perfectly fine .....The wallpapers look quite crisp even at this resolution ......!
-- The 2100 mAh battery provides a decent backup ...... Most of the Android Smartphones drain a lot of battery and recharging is needed every day or two even for higher-end smartphones .......!
-- Came with a free flip-cover (Absolutely essential for safety of the screen).........!
-- Only 512 MB of Internal Storage is a serious limitation in terms of installing more apps from the Play Store .....As many of the inbuilt applications take up memory space, one has to be really choosy in terms of installing apps .....As the external memory can be expanded to 32 GB, so there is no issues with loading more music, video, pdf files, etc..... I have installed 15-16 games on my phone .........!
-- It has only 512 MB of RAM ....However, not much of a problem if one is not much into running heavy gaming apps ....The basic applications work totally fine....!
-- It is not a 3G Model.....However, for those who just want basic surfing while on-the-go.....The 2G data plans are adequate ....Even now 3G data plans have not become affordable (The 3G Model is available at 8.5K)......!
-- The Camera is strictly OK even though it is a 5 MP Rear Camera (and a 1.3 MP Front Camera)..... However, not much can be expected from a 7K Android Phone .......!
Overall, not at all a bad deal for owning a Phablet for 7K .......Just go for it ...........!!!
Bought this amazing phn 2days for 6.3k with screen guard, flip cover and 16gb memory card free(can't ask for more) .. Thumbs up to spice for this type of product at dis price range.. I also have mmx a110 n after using dis phn it seems that it is at par with mmx a110..
1) Looks not so great bt still a good looking phone The screen is really amazing.. Infact better than mmx a110(really awsum at dis price range).. Build quality is also ok ok..
2) touch response is also good.. Fluid..
3) Performance is snappy(At par with a110).. Didn't suffer any lag(200mb ram remains free) ..
4).Back camera is good but not great.. N the front camera is the best among any phn under 10k(mmx a110 front camera sucks)
5) blutooth, wifi, a-gps (no gps) works fine.. It even has wifi direct( missing in a110) Though it has only 170mb internal memory.. The apps usually gets installed in SD card so not to worry.. Proximity n accelerometer sensors works fine..
6) Can play 720p videos via mx player.. Sound through speaker is ok ok.. Bundled headphone is also good..
7) Gaming is really great.. Much better than a110.. Homerun battle 3d showed a little jitter while playing in a110..bt in dis phn it was very smooth.. Nt yet tried nfs most wanted..
8) Battery backup is also at par with a110.. With moderate use it lasted me a day n a half..
Just LED notification n 3g missing.. N the charger is of very cheap quality.. Bt at dis price one cannot ask for more.. If any one is looking for a budget 5inch phn.. Then this is the best option..
Crazy comment 2:
1. Internal Memory : it is a big issue...i think the most controversial specification of
this model, this site says 512 mb internal memory ( in fact most of the site says so),
even here, someone says 512 mb, someone says 170mb... i personally
asked a guy using this phone in a site, he said his device has 512mb intrnl memry, in another site
a guy said his mobile has 141 mb ... unfortunately in my phone also it is 141 mb...
i think initially this model has 512 mb intrnl mmry, then 170 mb and now in the recent
purchases its 141mb..dont know the exact scenario but i guess so....Forget all these
things but the point is it has very low internal memory (141 Mb in my case),in this 141 Mb,
51.23 Mb shared by internal apps so only 89.87 Mb remains free to use....but in any case
u'll use a SD card for sure and u can install apps there...but still there r some apps
which can only be installed in intrnl mmry, so try to install apps on SD card only unless
u come up with such apps.....But the main the problem is ALTHOUGH U CAN INSTALL apps on SD card but
with every installation some internl memry also get consumed whether its 500kb or 1-2 Mb
depending on apps size(If any1 know how to stop this please reply back)....SO THAT RESTRICTS TO
INSTALL LIMITED NUMBER OF APPS UNLESS U ROOT UR PHONE...N BELIEVE ME U DONT WANT TO ROOT UR PHONE
TILL ITS UNDER WARRANTY i.e. 12 mnths...
2 No 3G : it really hurts but u cant expect much in 6k with 5" screen size and so much
specifications...m not saying u wont get a 3G below 6k, u'll get a
3G even in 5k but u'll have to compromise with other specifications....
3. HD Videos: It cant play Full HD videos of 1080p, I even used MX Player but it plays only audio,
although it can play 720p videos nicely without any hiccups and even wdout using MX Player....
4. Flip Cover: Spice shud hv provided a leather Flip Cover...Flip cover doesnt look much attractive,
spice cud hv increased the price by 100 but a leather Flip Cover...Flip Cover looks exactly
same as shown in Youtube video "Samsung Galaxy Duos Premium Flip Cover Application by Atitude "...
One more fault in flip cover beside its average look, the inner side of the cover sud also hv been
coloured white...y it in not done :( ... in case of black colrd phone the cover provided is fully black...then
y its not done with white flip cover...
5. Absence of various apps : It contains many preinstalled apps but some of the popular apps
like fb, skype, wechat are not preinstalled althogh u can freely download it through Google Play
but spice sud hav provided these basic important apps...And one thing that irritated me most is that there
is no video or mp3 file preloaded even no ringtones just a default ringtone and thats it(even a 1.5k mobile
contains lots of ringtones)...Spice sud hv provided this just to check hows audio n video....
I accept these r not the things which wd empty ur pockets but still these r the basic things
a smartphne maker sud provide in his phone....
Other specifications :
1. Design: its similar to galaxy series which is a bit common these days but still looking
more better than just saying gud and those metal finishings around it, it looks good...Look
is better than what u'll see in its photo...
2. Camera: I accept its not gr8 like 5mp of samsung , sony or nokia phones but its comparable with 5Mp
of any Indian Brands like Karbonnn or Micromax phones... In daylight its OK gud but night pics
r not vry gud....Secondary Cam is 1.2 Mp which is best in its range....it contains certain Cam features which
is not mentioned in its official site si2imobility like Panorama shot, geo-tagging and HD recording(obviously HD recording of
720p through a 5Mp cam n not by a 50Mp cam)...
3. Battery : 2100mAh, for moderate use it'll go more than a day... I usually play 3 hrs games daily and
using it for basic calls n texting(not surfing now) and some common stuffs and it goes for a day sure...
I dont have any prior experience with smartphones n i dont know how long it takes to charge a smartphone
complete but this phone takes almost 5 full hrs to charge frm 0-100% ......
#NOTE : @Giri, stop doing copy paste of others comments... this guy has copied a portion of my post from
another site n posted here, he just copied a CONS point and pasted here n rated it as 1 star without even
using this product....dont do such things, u just misunderstood me n made this product overall rating down...
Final Words: It proved a total PAISA WASOOL product to me.....for a medium budget buyer, without any hesitation
go for it if u dont bother about 3G and want a 5" phablet with gud specifications.....
THESE PRICES WERE AT THE TIME WHEN I PURCHASED THIS PRODUCT IN EID OFFER AND KEEPS CHANGING SO BETTER SEARCH IN
I have recently purchased this product 2 weeks ago, not from flipkart, from eb*y at just
Rs 5914...and m fully satisfied with what i got after spending almost 6k bucks...
1 Headset, 1 Earphone, 1 Flip Cover, 1 Extra Scratchguard(one already applied on screen),
1 Adapter, 1 Datacable cum charger cable, user manual, service center manual, warranty card
Its simply awesome..... its features are really appreciable... 2 yrs ago one cant even imagine
that in 6k one wd get a 5" smartphone running on android with such features but we sud thank
to SPICE that it did make it.......Before purchasing this phone i reviewed almost all phones
shown in various sites in this range and finally sorted out 2 phones one is this and other Lava Iris 502,
which is a 3G phone in Rs7000....but i opted spice bcz i got a flip cover and an extra scratchguard
with it(one scratchguard already used on the screen), while if i wd puchase Lava 502, i wd
have to purchase these things (flip cover Rs 250 + scratchguard Rs 200 + memory card Rs 650 )for
which i wd have to pay Rs 1000 extra, so the total budget then wd be around Rs 8000....
Its specification itself shows its Pros....
1. 1 GHz Dual Core Processor, ensures usage without lag... Temple Run 2, Subway Surfers running fine
without lagging... not tried Asphalt 7 Heat, shall try in a few days and lets see..
2. 512 Mb RAM , althogh its not much but for 6k range its best n no brand is giving u
more than this in this date..
3. 5" TFT Capacitive Screen , its too good, it is one of the main reasons y i purchased
this product....fluid touch response as one commented here...
4. Sensors : G-Sensor, Accelerometer, Proimity Sensor all woking f9.... when u play games
by tilting ur screen it feels awsme that i have a phone that is really smart :D ...
5. Free accessories like Flip cover and scratchguard which many brands dont provide u
with a 6k phone...
I'm writing on other specifications in my next comment.
Spice Mi-502 is good mobile, as per the specification internal memory is 512MB but actual internal memory is only 141MB.
the internal memory... it is a big issue..i think the most controversial specification of this model, this site says 512 mb internal memory ( in fact most of the site says so),even in fpkart user comments, someone says 512 mb, someone says 170mb and 512mb, in another site a guy said his mobile has 141 mb ... unfortunately in my phone also it is 141 mb...i think initially this model has 512 mb intrnl mmry, then 170 mb and now in the recent purchases its 141mb..dont know the exact situation but i guess so...
